Passes The Standard.

We looked at nineteen ways to store food. Nine had plastic lids or plastic seals resting directly on the food. Four were "glass" sets with acrylic lids. Cling film is polyethylene, and it touches the food by design. Six passed.
This one: The body-contact components are the glass interior, the bamboo lid, and the silicone gasket inside the lid. None are plastic.

ABOUT THE SILICONE

Each lid contains a food-grade silicone gasket. Silicone is not plastic — it is a silicon-oxygen polymer, stable and inert under normal use. As an intermittent food seal at room temperature on dry goods, it does not degrade or shed microparticles.
